CURRENT NEWS
Summer 2008
Road Badger has had Road Rehabilitation
Quantification Protocol's approved by Alberta Environment for Green House
Gas (GHG) emission credits. You can read their full report at
www.carbonoffsetsolutions.ca
Fall 2007
Woodland County evaluated the machine while
completing 14 km of MC250 cold mix rehabilitation. They documented an
average savings of $4600.00 per km in materials and equipment time over
their existing method and budgeted costs. You can read their full report
here.
Summer 2007
While performing more ITEP programs for local
municipalities, we have received a long term report for gravel road
rehabilitation performed for the Alberta Government. Long term savings
include the reduction of gravel consumption while extending regravel
frequency - and a lower per km maintenance cost. Click for the full report -
here.
Spring 2007
We have starting booking for our 2007 ITEP program, which
offers the municipality a method to evaluate and field test the machine on
their roads to identify the advantages and benefits that it may offer to
their existing maintenance methods and costs. For more information, or if
you would like to participate -

Summer 2006
We would like to thank both Woodland County and
Lamont County for participation in our 2006 ITEP program. Woodland will
participate again in 2007.
County of Lamont participation included
performing straight rip/relay of SC250, returning old oil road back to
gravel, and dust abatement rehabilitation. They reported they were able to
double current production, while reducing their per km cost by almost 50%
over their existing method. You can read the full report
here.
Winter 2005/06
Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation
(Technical Services) has completed their review of the machine through their
use of it to rehabilitate gravel road last spring. Having identified and
proved the machine as a viable piece of equipment to reduce road maintenance
costs, (Program Services) has now acknowledged that purchase of the machine
by a municipality can be eligible for AMIP funding.
We have updated our Operations & Applications
manual, providing details of how to use the machine effectively in various
applications.

Road Badger is performing trials for use of the
machine in frozen ground, to assist with the separation of top soil in well
site and pipeline preparation during the winter months. This application
could assist contractors with the ongoing problem of soil cross
contamination using conventional methods.
Check here for details.
Fall 2005
A Road Badger was used by the "Special Areas
Board" of Alberta, (A provincial jurisdiction responsible for over 5924km of
Roads) to assist in the 24km rehabilitation of a secondary highway. The
machine was utilized to break up the existing surface, granulate, and mix in
new oil and aggregate in the 7-8 year old highway. Click here for more
details.
Road Badger has been identified as an Enabler,
for the Level Best Drilling Seasonal Load Leveling Business Case - Presented
by PTAC (Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada)

ASET (Association of Science and Engineering
Technology Professionals in Alberta) completed an article on the Road
Badger, published in their September/October edition under "Technology
Alberta".
You can view the article here.
Spring/Summer 2005
The town of Norman Wells (Located at just below
the Arctic Circle in NWT, Canada) utilized a Road Badger to rehabilitate
12.5 km of their 20+/- km road network. These roads are subject to extreme
conditions, and have been very costly for the municipality to maintain.
Please click here for more details.
Alberta Infrastructure (Transportation) used to
the Road Badger to rehabilitate 28.5 km of road for Alberta Environment that
was scheduled to be regravelled. The machine rehabilitated the road in only
4 days, saved over $36,800 and eliminated the need for regravelling for less
than half the cost.

Fall/Winter 2004:
Transportation Association of Canada (TAC)
accepted a paper presented by UMA engineering at its Annual Meeting in
Quebec City, Canada, which emphasized the economic and environmental
benefits of utilizing the Road Badger in ongoing road maintenance
programs. A viewable copy of this presentation can be read
here.
Summer 2004:
Road Badger has received
final reports from AEC Ecuador, based on performances observed while we
were commissioning and training on site. At minimum the unit doubles
existing road maintenance production, with minimal additional operating
costs. With an additional packer on location, 4km per day vs. existing 1km
per day can be realized.
Operational savings of (USD) $ 36,162 per month
were reported possible, and additional aggregate cost savings have not been
included in this number. After installation of an additional cooler to allow
ongoing use, Road Badger expects AEC Ecuador to realize ongoing operational
and aggregate savings - as this machine becomes adopted as a standard in
their road maintenance management plan. You can read more about AEC Ecuador
here.
Summer 2003:
Road Badger has
received the final report from EnCana for work done at Wabasca, Alberta, as
well as a purchase order for a new unit.
